Goldies Restaurant — Casual, generous portions, very much a neighborhood breakfast/lunch place. They treat you like family.
Country House Restaurant — the kind of old-fashioned, no-frills local place that feels like a genuine Naples institution.
The Rooster Food+Drink — Fun for people who want something a little more current but still casual.
Jane’s Cafe on 3rd — especially good for anyone wanting the charming Old Naples experience without making breakfast a major production. You will love the ambiance!
One of my favorites – The Café on Fifth Avenue South. Great location, excellent service and a super selection!
The Cove Inn – probably the most quintessential Naples’ breakfast place of all!
🌴 The Resident Only Secret: Naples Botanical Garden
Every summer residents of Collier, Lee and Charlotte counties get a special summer admission price at Naples Botanical Garden from June 1 through September 30. The Garden currently lists $20 adult admission and free admission for children 17 and under during the summer resident promotion, with proof of residency.
*But here’s an even better little insider detail:
Garden members get free admission year-round, plus member-only benefits and special events. The Garden also offers members 10% off at Fogg Café! It’s a lovely, peaceful place to connect with nature, and people are blown away when I take them there; the caliber of our amazing Naples Botanical Garden is unmatched!
💡 Oh, and here’s one last resident perk! Naples Botanical Garden has Music in the Garden on select Saturdays beginning in October. It isn’t free admission unless you’re a Garden member, but the music is included with admission—and free for members. October 10th is the first listed date for the new season.
🦒 OK, here’s a BIG one: the Naples Zoo
You may already know this, but if not, “you’re welcome!” The Naples Zoo at Caribbean Gardens gives Collier County residents free admission on the first Saturday of every month. That’s 12 free Saturdays a year. Residents simply show proof of Collier County residency. The Zoo specifically says this benefit has been offered since 2005 as a thank you to county voters for supporting preservation of the property.
And there’s another terrific family secret: A Florida-resident family or grandparent membership is currently $179, covering two named adults and children or grandchildren in the household ages 17 and younger. That “Grandparent Membership” is especially perfect for Naples. It sure is wonderful when grandparents live near their grandchildren and have a place like the Zoo to make an ordinary Saturday feel like an adventure.
After years of living and working in Naples, I’ve learned that some of the very best parts of our community aren’t necessarily found on the busiest streets or in the most talked-about restaurants.
They’re the little neighborhood breakfast spots. The casual seafood restaurant you’ve driven past a hundred times. The garden you can enjoy for less simply because you live here. And the Saturday morning tradition at the Zoo that many visitors don’t even know exists.
🎨 One of my personal favorite hidden gems: Art After Hours at The Baker Museum
This is a terrific “local secret”: Free admission to The Baker Museum on the last Wednesday evening of every month! Every month! There’s also live music, and food & drinks are available for purchase. I almost hate to give this one away… On the last Wednesday evening of each month, you can enjoy The Baker Museum completely free from 6–9 p.m. There is beautiful art and a very pleasant atmosphere. It’s one of those Naples perks that visitors may not know about—but locals do!
🖼️ October 15th — A FREE art reception! There’s also a really interesting event coming up at Rookery Bay Environmental Learning Center:
Thursday, October 15th from 5–7 PM
“Through the Light of the Estuary” closing reception featuring 18 works by 11 local artists, with painting, photography and mixed media. The reception is free, although reservations are required. There’s also a special live piano performance that evening. If you have never been to Rookery Bay Center, it is a must! *I must also add it is probably the premier kayak location in all of SW Florida!
🎨 November 28 — Art in the Park
The Naples Art Institute’s Art in the Park returns to Cambier Park on Saturday, November 28, 2026. It’s a juried outdoor art fair featuring local, national and international artists, and admission is free! I have personally purchased many treasures over the years.
🎶 Cambier Park is one of those wonderful Naples secrets hiding in plain sight! Right in the heart of downtown, just south of Fifth Avenue, the Cambier Park Bandshell hosts free outdoor concerts, and the City specifically describes the concerts as ‘free to the public’. The tradition includes the Naples Concert Band, Naples Dixieland Jazz Band and other groups.
Upcoming dates to definitely circle on your calendar include:
🎺 Sunday, November 1, 2026, 2–4 PM — Naples Concert Band, opening its 55th anniversary season, with Italian Masterpieces and American Pride. Free admission.
🎷 Sunday, November 22, 2026, 2 PM — Naples Dixieland Jazz Band.
🎄 Sunday, December 20, 2026, 2 PM — Naples Dixieland Jazz Band.
🎶 More Dixieland concerts are scheduled at Cambier Park in January, February, March and April 2027.
👩🎨 The Naples Art District
The Art District is less “go look at art in a museum” and more “come meet the artists where they actually work.” They periodically open their studios to the public, and admission is free. Every Thursday and Saturday, November through April you can watch local artists paint, sculpt, make ceramics and jewelry! The district is located in the industrial park north of Pine Ridge Rd. and west of Airport-Pulling Road, primarily along Shirley Street, J&C Blvd. and Yahl Street! You just might see me there!
